Saving lives

The Future Healthcare Professional’s Club

Saving+lives

If someone were to collapse right in front of me at any given time, I would know exactly how to take his or her vital signs: I would therefore be able to tell if the person was dead or just unconscious. How do I know this? Because I am a member of FHCP. That’s Future Healthcare Professional’s Club.

Sponsored by the ever charismatic Dr. Jezequel, you learn more than just how to take vital signs in FHCP. Through student-run interactive learning activities, guest speakers, and field trips, we answer questions like What is healthcare? What career options are there for me in healthcare? Why is it important to be healthy?, How does the body work?, and so much more. And if a member has a question we don’t have an answer to, we work together to find one. The purpose of FHCP is to teach people who have an interest in medicine about healthcare, as well as learn about possible careers in the allied health fields. Thus, we tailor our club to suit our member’s individual curiosities. Then, at the end of each school year, as a sort of grand finale, we participate in a hands on dissection to see what we have been learning about up close and personal.

At the end of last year, our club only had three returning members who didn’t graduate last spring. At the first meeting of FHCP this year, we had over thirty-five people show up expressing interest in our club. And like the neurons in a brain, we don’t intend to stop growing and making connections. There is always room for more members. So if you are planning on becoming a future Healthcare professional, or if you are simply interested in exploring the possibilities, there is a club at Kennesaw Mountain High School that is perfect for you: FHCP. That’s Future Health Care Professionals.

Our next meeting is on September 10th at 7:35 in Room 626

. We look forward to seeing you there.
