AI tools such as ChatGPT are becoming more common in schools, and many students have mixed feelings about it. Some people use it to help them study, come up with ideas, or understand things they didn’t get in class. Other people think it makes it too easy to skip doing the work and cheat. As it grows more popular, it raises questions about what is and isn’t okay when it comes to using AI for school.
Some students are more doubtful about using AI in their schoolwork. “AI isn’t really needed, and it can make students too dependent on it,” said Lily Davis. “I also think it’s not very reliable and doesn’t always help people actually learn.” Others, however, see it differently. “I use AI for studying, especially for physics— it helps me understand things better,” Andre Chirinos said. “I don’t think it’s cheating, but teachers should limit on the amount it’s being used.”
At the end of the day, most people agree that schools need to restrict the use of AI to an extent. Some see it as a helpful tool, while others think it can be a bit of a shortcut if it’s not used the right way. As technology gets better, students and teachers are going to have to find a way to use these tools without losing the point of actually learning.
