Poem: The Constant Battle

Poem%3A+The+Constant+Battle

The Constant Battle a villanelle
Lahari Durga, 10th grade

In solitude, I wander through the night

Longing for company, drifting through sea

A starless sky, no end to this plight

Loneliness a constant, lasting, fight

Letting out a screaming, silent, plea

In solitude, I wander through the night

Reliving old memories, a horrible sight

Where’s the way out? There should be a key

A starless sky, no end to this plight

A kindle of hope, shining so bright

This must be the way to set me free

In solitude, I wander through the night

Can’t tell if this way is wrong or right

Perhaps, maybe this is how it should be

A starless sky, no end to this plight

I stand defeated in my desolate fight

Not now, but one day I know I’ll find glee

In solitude, I wander through the night

A starless sky, no end to this plight
