Last year our Boys Soccer Team won the AAAAAAA State Championship for the first time in Kennesaw Mountain High School’s 25-year existence. This was also the first team state championship ever won by any team since the school opened.
It was a unique experience that they achieved due to the coaches’ dedication and hard work and the players’ teamwork.
This year, the Varsity Soccer Team will have many openings. Unfortunately, thirteen 12th-grade players graduated last year, and as a result, the team is missing players with the experience and skills necessary to win another championship.
“It’s a problem that every school faces,” says Sr. Vélez, the coach of the JV Soccer Team and assistant coach of the Varsity Team. Fortunately, the school receives at least 70 new participants each year during tryout sessions.
Therefore, both teams are looking for members with the experience, qualities, and skills to help them return to the championships once more.
If new players want to receive more information, they can contact Coach DePlanche or Coach Vélez, or wait for the information meeting in October. Conditioning for aspiring players will start in November, followed by tryouts in January, where coaches will decide who will join the teams.
