It is no surprise that March is a very busy month for performing arts students, considering the many different groups that have performances throughout this month. Some notable ones include LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation) for band, orchestra, and chorus. Additionally, the drama department is premiering their major musical “Spamalot”, and the JV and Varsity Winterguards also have shows. Make sure to support the Kennesaw Mountain performing arts department and attend these entertaining performances. **Dates for attendance and descriptions for each of these events are listed below.
Large Group Performance Evaluation, or LGPE, is an event in which a musical ensemble performs pieces of music they have prepared for judging. This event is for band, orchestra, and chorus. Our band will even be hosting an LGPE Preview Concert on March 14th. The concert will begin at 7:00 pm, and will be performed in the Susan Gunderman Theater.
Monty Python’s Spamalot is the Drama department’s major spring musical, following the comedic adventure of King Arthur and his search for the Holy Grail. It is a PG two-act musical, with performances on March 3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th, and 12th all starting at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.
Our JV and Varsity Winterguards have a competition at South Forsyth High School on March 4th, as well as a performance from our Varsity Winterguard at WGI Atlanta on March 25th. Tickets for the South Forsyth High School competition are $12 or free for children 5 and under. The JV team performs at 10:56 am, and the Varsity team will perform at 4:00 pm. The tickets for the WGI Atlanta concert are $18, and Varsity will begin their performance at 10:16 am.
