Fans had been waiting for the new NBA season for months, and boy did it not disappoint this season. To start the night off, we got the Raptors vs Pelicans game which was a thriller of a game, even though Zion Williamson of the Pelicans was not able to play because of his knee surgery the day before. The Raptors revealed their championship ring and their first NBA championship banner. The game was surprisingly competitive, even going to overtime. The Raptors upcoming stars, Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet, led the way for the Raptors, combining for 68 points on the night and leading the Raptors to their 8-point win. The Pelicans had Brandon Ingram, the young upcoming star, lead the way for them, with 22 points with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. That game wasn’t even the best part of the night, though. The next game up was the very long-awaited matchup of the Lakers and the Clippers. After Kawhi Leonard had signed with the Clippers and Anthony Davis had been traded to the Lakers, this was the game we wanted to see, and it would be an understatement to say that this was a great opening day game. It was a “home game” for the Clippers, even though when Kawhi Leonard went to the free-throw line, he was swarmed with boos from the crowd which shows the over-reigning Lakers fans over Clippers fans. With all of that considered, we still got a great game. Throughout the game, LeBron James seemed to be conceding the ball to Anthony Davis which is something we haven’t seen throughout his whole career. Kawhi Leonard, on the other hand, had done the exact opposite. He went off for 30 points and the Lakers, surprisingly had Danny Green go off for 28 points, which had led the Lakers comeback. The comeback didn’t last, as the Clippers ended up winning with a score of 112-102. We learned a lot of things about these 4 teams and we can already sense that a fun season is upcoming and the NBA couldn’t be in better shape.
