On March 28th, the KMHS rifle team participated in Georgia’s state championship area playoffs. The team shot against Lee County High School under the leadership of Head Coaches Dana Rogers and Rex Kienel. Ashlyn Rowland, Sebastian Hagan, Tessa Lewis, Patrick Gaffigan, and McKenna Farmer participated in the match and represented the Mustangs well. Lewis said, “We’re going to be even more competitive next year.” Unfortunately, the team did not make it past Lee County, losing by a small margin of 22 points. Overall this season, the rifle team ranked higher than ever since it separated from the NJROTC, ranking five out of ten in the area. The team as a whole already has big plans for next season, practicing hard at a summer camp and preparing for tryouts.
