Though not everyone loves dogs, it seems pretty safe to say that the vast majority of our student population here at the Mountain adores these beloved fluffy creatures, most commonly nicknamed as man’s best friend. Stemming from this school wide appreciation and adoration of dogs, an amazing club was born to help other dogs in need and or in trouble.
K-Side Kanines is a community service club with an ultimate goal in rescuing animals, specifically dogs. Along with rescuing dogs and finding them new nurturing and loving homes through Roadside Homes, K-Side Kanines also seeks to provide the animal and dog loving population of KMHS with an opportunity to learn more about man’s best friend as well as the opportunity to care for and play with them. Through volunteering in the community, the club offers many different community services to join in, including volunteering at animal shelters and fundraiser events, such as the stuffed animal adoption.
“My favorite part is that I get to play with and help all those dogs and still get community service,” says Anna Warren, an active member of the club.
Led by club sponsor Mrs. Sykes, K-Side Kanines meets every other Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30 in Room 502. Everyone in Kennesaw Mountain is encouraged to join in and to participate in helping dogs, in any way possible, by giving them new and loving homes as well as by planning other fun and learning events that anyone can partake in.
